The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo is trying to round up a collection of alligators and deer who hightailed it from the zoo during Hurricane Ivan.
The deer were seen on camera running and swimming as they fled the compound.
Zoo general manager Kate Ramon said as many as nine alligators are on the loose. The gators apparently got over enclosures after Ivan's rains caused zoo ponds to overflow.
Included in the list of escapees is a 1,000-pound alligator named Chucky -- lost after Hurricane Ivan flooded the area.
Ramon said the 14-foot-long Chucky isn't normally dangerous, because he's pretty well fed at the zoo. But, she warned, that could change if he gets hungry.
Zookeepers evacuated the 265 animals from the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, but some reptiles were left behind, along with 22 deer.
Among the animals safely evacuated were several bears.
Zookeepers say they fed the gators before Hurricane Ivan hit, so they are not expected to be in a hunting mode.
