Fistful Of Sand

Q:Where did you think of the site name, 'Fistful Of Sand'?

A: Ah, well the site is titled after a song of the same name, written by the band Five Iron Frenzy. I wanted a catchy, swift, clean name for the site when I originally went about brainstorming it up.. Unfortunatly, I couldn't manage to fathom such a title on my own.. So I proceeded to look at the names of songs in my CD collection (much of which is FIF :-D)... I came across the song 'Fistful Of Sand', and thus, a website was born!

Q:What does 'Fistful Of Sand' mean?

A: Uh.. well.. hmm... Well, the song anyway, is about the dangers of unbridled Capitalism; it's growth and acceptance in the United States, and the deterioration of the U.S. that it causes.

Where I personally don't find 'Fistful Of Sand' to be my favorite FIF song musically, I do agree with it's message. And the topics of unbridled Capitalism, and the idea of Capitalism actually being a bad thing, are common subjects discusssed on this site.
